Foremost Rotary Club in Rotary International District 9111, Rotary Club of Ikeja, has strengthened its commitment to youth development with a Leadership Training for 60 Interactors from five Interact Clubs.
The one-day training programme which held at Ikeja Junior High School, Muis Banire Road, Ikeja, exposed the young leaders to practical lessons on Rotary, leadership, effective club management, project planning and execution, teamwork and responsible participation as well as equipping them with skills to make meaningful contributions within their clubs, schools and communities.
Speaking at the training, the Vice President of the club, Rotarian Osato Osawaye challenged the Interactors to keep their “fire in the belly” ignited from a young age and through every stage of life, stressing that passion, ambition and purpose were essential to sustained leadership.
The club’s Youth Service Chair, Rotarian Titi Akintan, encouraged the Interactors to see leadership as a journey, moving from being a member to participating actively, and becoming change-makers who create positive impact wherever they find themselves.
Themed ” Sharing Knowledge , Igniting Purpose and Shaping Valuew , the programme advanced Rotary’s Youth Service and supported the Basic Education & Literacy and Peacebuilding & Conflict Prevention areas of Focus of Rotary through leadership development, teamwork, responsible citizenship and positive youth engagement.
Other attendees included the District 9112 Distrixt Chair New Club Development, Rotarian Bukunola Solle- Balogun, District 9111 Interact Chair, Rotarian Emeka Metus, Rotaractor Anjorin Olorunju and Rotaruan Bola Bido.
